Manual Wheelchairs

Facility grade manual wheelchairs in 16, 18 and 20 inch seat widths, with PVC builds for wet environments and an accessories line for fleet upkeep. Fifteen chairs across five lines.

Fleet Chairs Are Bought Differently Than Personal Chairs

A facility wheelchair lives a harder life than a personal one: dozens of users a week, hallway collisions, bleach wipedowns and the occasional trip through a doorway narrower than the chair. Fleet buyers look past comfort features to the things that survive that duty cycle, welded frames, replaceable parts, armrest and footrest styles that hold up to constant adjustment, and a seat width mix that covers the patient population without stocking ten models.

Reading The Spec Table Before Buying

Three numbers do most of the deciding: seat width, overall width and weight capacity. Seat width fits the patient, overall width has to clear the facility’s tightest doorway, and capacity needs headroom above the heaviest expected user rather than sitting exactly at it. After those three, look at the transport details, whether the chair folds for van transport, how the footrests detach, and whether the model shares parts with chairs already in the fleet, because shared parts cut the spares shelf in half.

Frequently Asked Questions

A working rule many facilities use is one transport chair per 8 to 12 beds plus dedicated chairs at entrances and imaging, adjusted for how much of the population is non-ambulatory. The right mix leans on 18 inch seats with 16 and 20 inch chairs filling the edges.

Most models in the line fold at the cross brace in the standard manner and list folded dimensions on the product page, which is the number to check against van door openings and storage closets.

Tire and caster checks, brake adjustment and cross brace inspection on a monthly cycle, with upholstery and armrest pads swapped from the accessories line as they wear. Chairs that share a parts platform make this far cheaper.
