Portable Massage Tables

Massage therapy is designed to create the most comfortable environment for the patient in order to best alleviate their stress and worries that could be leading to tense and sore muscles. In order to encourage employee health and well-being, many  companies are hiring therapists to bring in their portable massage tables to offer massages to the staff. By having the therapist come to their workplace, many people are more inclined to try a massage for the first time. It is vital to turn these initial patients into returning clients that their experience on the portable massage table is just as comfortable as a larger, fixed table found at a therapist's office.

For the patient, comfort is the key. Any portable massage table used must be well padded. The patient will be lying on it for forty-five minutes to over an hour depending upon the length of the session, and the massage will not  offer him the same benefits if he is not comfortable lying on the table. Depending upon the type of massage the therapist offers, a table with adjustable padded arm rests and headrest will be able to accommodate the greatest number of patients, no matter what their size.

For the therapist's convenience, the portable massage table should be lightweight enough to be easily carried. The lesser bulk of the table, though, should not compromise the table's sturdiness, and it should be able to support enough weight from all patients. Larger patients have a need for massage much as smaller people do. In order to not have to turn away patients, a therapist's portable massage table  should be wide enough and long enough to allow as many patients as possible to lie completely on it, without dangling over the side. The weight that many tables support comes in two forms, static and live or active. The static weight is how much the table can hold of something that is not moving. This is not the maximum weight of the patient.  The therapist, though, should not forget to factor in the amount of pressure he puts on the body during a session. This could be up to his entire body weight, and this number should be added to the patient's weight to equal a number that is at or below the live or active weight. Since the patient will be moving getting on and off the table and during the massage, the active, or live weight is the maximum of the patient's plus the amount of pressure from the therapist that the table will hold.

Many portable message table manufacturers have designed their products to be compact to fit into most vehicles while at the same time light enough to carry by yourself and easy to assemble in a couple of minutes.  When considering purchasing a portable massage table, take into account the materials from which the table is constructed.  Many tables tops are made out of durable foam cushion and covered by stain resistant vinyl.  The frame of a portable massage table is typically made of wood, and a growing number of tables are made out light weight metals such as aluminum.   Selecting a more durable portable massage table made out of better quality materials is typically more economical over a longer term.
