TENS Units

We carry a wide selection of TENS Units for you to choose from.  For safe, non-invasive pain management, the various models in our TENS Units supply are superior alternatives to narcotic pain killers and other drugs.  Our portable TENS Units are in high demand and we offer discount TENS Units that will fit your budget.

"TENS" is the acronym for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation.  The medical TENS Units in our inventory are handheld, portable, and battery-operated.

TENS Units work by sending electrical impulses to certain parts of the body that block pain signals to the brain as well as activating the release of endorphins and encephalins, the body’s natural analgesics. This TENS Units therapy works via electrodes.

TENS Unit electrodes are applied to the surface of the skin at the area experiencing pain.  When the unit is turned on, a mild electrical current is sent through the electrodes.  A slight tingling sensation will be felt under the skin.  By effectively managing pain without drugs, TENS allows many people with chronic pain conditions to resume their daily activities.

TENS units are used to treat both chronic pain conditions and acute pain problems such as:

  • ankle pain
  • arthritis

The medical TENS Units in our inventory provide pain relief that can last for hours.  This is highly valuable to many patients living with chronic pain.  As well, for those experiencing acute pain conditions, TENS therapy will still reduce the amount of pain medications needed.  Many people opt to take their handheld TENS Units with them throughout the day, even hooking them on a belt and turning it on when immediate pain relief is needed.

As opposed to other pain management measures, TENS therapy is non-addictive and doesn’t provide dangerous side-effects that are so common with medications and prescribed narcotic pain-killers.  You can’t sprain or strain your muscles by overworking them with your TENS Unit.

TENS therapy is useful for virtually anyone experiencing pain.  However, there are some precautions that should be considered on an individual basis.  Ask yourself the following questions:

  • Are you pregnant?
  • Do you have a cardiac condition?
  • Do you use a pace maker?
  • Do you have metal plates or pins?
  • Do you have diabetes?
  • Do you have an abnormally high blood pressure?

If you or someone you know answered yes to any of the above questions, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation therapy is not advisable without the consent of a physician.  As well, head and neck pain requiring electrodes to be placed on these areas of the body should be conducted with a physician’s consent.

Unlike surgery or prescription drugs, TENS therapy is virtually risk free from injury, side effects, and addiction. The low volt electrical impulses delivered by the electrodes only penetrate the skin to the level of the nerve fibers, usually only one to two inches. This poses no danger to most individuals. It is advisable to use caution when driving or operating heavy machinery.
