Why Choose Molded Plastic Over a Fabric-Bed Stretcher?

The decision usually turns on what happens after the carry. A coated fabric bed can be wiped, but a molded polyethylene shell can be scrubbed, hosed and chemically decontaminated indefinitely without degrading, and it has no stitching or hinge points to inspect. Environments with routine biological, chemical or salt exposure get years more service from the molded design. The trade is storage bulk: a one-piece shell does not fold, so the staging spot has to accept the full-length unit.

What Environments Specify Plastic Stretchers?

Industrial safety teams stage them where oils, coolants and process chemistry would destroy fabric equipment. Marine operators and pools choose them for immersion tolerance and corrosion-free construction. Food processing and clean-protocol facilities choose them because the shell survives the same sanitation regime as the rest of the plant. In each case the purchase logic is the same: the environment sets the cleaning requirement, and the cleaning requirement selects the material.

How Are Integral Handholds Different From Frame Handles?

Handholds on a molded stretcher are cut into the shell itself, so grip strength is a property of the molding rather than of a bolted or welded attachment. That removes the classic failure point of hard use, and it also fixes the carry positions, so the handhold spacing shown in the product photos is worth checking against the team size that will actually carry it.
